The 20th ALS Will Rise Again!  News from Peterson AFB, CO., the 20th will be an active duty C-130 unit.  Mentioned on the bottom of page three of the Peterson AFB Front Range Flyer newspaper. According to one of my sources " The latest version of the venerable XX will be an Active Associate unit flying the 731 AS’ (AFRC) C-130H3 aircraft.  The squadron will have slightly less than 200 personnel assigned and have the integrated operations and maintenance concept."
The President of our alumni association, Dave Mellert, will contact the unit when it stands up in hopes of gaining some active duty membership.

Answer to Newsletter "hot" question . . . "Man it's hot.  It's like Africa Hot.  Tarzan couldn't take this kind of hot".  Uttered by Matthew Broderick in the movie Biloxi Blues.

A Hot story submitted by Greg Weber :

I remember Aug 1990 very well.  Myself and Larry Bujnowski were on an INF mission to Frankfurt when Iraq invaded Kuwait.  We were alerted not to fly to Moscow but to Thumrait , Oman instead; where we were to offload an ALCE team and their rolling stock.  We landed some 18 hrs later (after a stop in Cairo West) and were welcomed by 3 C-5’s and a couple of C-130’s and no other support equipment.  Anyways, after about an hour or so of sitting on the ramp with the APU running, we got a bleed duct overheat, yes a bleed duct overheat.  We had to shut off the AC for a while until the overheat went away but yes it was hot!
